A Central London Wedding with Multicultural Vibes for M&N
Maria and Neil’s central London wedding was the perfect example of how a celebration can be multiculturally influenced, multi-site hosted, and bring multiple different vibes throughout the day – just what is needed when couples want to reflect different elements of their lives and personalities at their wedding. As we reminisce on their sunny summer wedding day, you’ll see that choosing London as your base for your celebration doesn’t have to mean all things classically British, and that there really are some unexpected gems in our capital city.
Multisite Celebrations at a Central London Wedding

One way to really keep the fun going and the vibe up at your wedding is to not leave people in one place too long.
Keeping the flow of the day moving and the intrigue high means your guests are constantly delighted and surprised – which is exactly what we did at M&N’s central London wedding. Pall Mall’s Oxford Cambridge Club was Maria’s iconic getting-ready location in the morning, and she was transported to Farm Street church in Mayfair by vintage Rolls Royce. Despite contending with road closures in the city, the bride did get to the church on time!

After the ceremony guests were whisked away on vintage London buses to The Charterhouse in Clarkenwell, a 14th century almshouse, where we switched up the vibe from church formal to garden party fun, and then to a joyful dinner in the iconic cloisters before an afterparty that ended the night in the coolest way possible.

Getting married in central London means you’re within easy access of hundreds of different venues and locations, and their close proximity to one another is pretty much an invitation to use more than one of them on your wedding day! If you’re feeling spoiled for choice and can’t decide what vibe you’d like, or have your hearts set on a ceremony in a specific location but want to switch it up for dinner and dancing, London is the perfect place to do that.
Multicultural Vibes for M&N
As well as being multisite, Maria and Neil’s wedding was a blend of classic English elegance and traditional Sri Lankan flair, an ode to the groom’s heritage. We leaned into the essence of London with a classic red bus to take guests from the church to the reception venue, and celebrated in summer garden style on the lawns of The Charterhouse for their drinks reception. The Charterhouse itself feels immersively English in style, the gardens being the perfect backdrop for their summery cake cutting before inviting guests into an iconic dinner location – the monastery’s ancient cloisters.

We injected Sri Lankan flavour into the wedding in various different places, first by hanging traditional marigold garlands and attaching a protective talisman of chilli and limes onto the newlywed’s car. When Maria and Neil arrived, they were played into their drinks reception to make a grand entrance by ceremonial Sri Lankan drummers, with garlands around their necks. There were also nods to both family heritages in the monogram on their menu cards.

Planning a multicultural wedding doesn’t mean choosing which to celebrate – it means fusing both together in the same way you have blended your lives. There are lots of lovely opportunities to change traditions and make them your own, add little details only the two of you would notice, and honour where you both come from with style and sentiment.
Take a look at a couple more examples of multicultural weddings I have planned for my couples – Somerley House with Kenyan accents, and Bermuda-meets-Australia at Wilderness Reserve.
Dreamy Details at this Central London Wedding
Details are always important at weddings – they’re what keep the essence of the celebration together and help to create a gorgeous, cohesive vibe that leaves guests feeling looked after, impressed and on a total high from it all for weeks to come. Some of my favourite details at M&N’s central London wedding were…
- The couple’s bespoke crest weaved throughout the day, from its inclusion on all the stationery to being printed on the dessert macaroons, and even on to Maria’s clutch bag
- Maria’s bouquet of glossy anthurium, spicy reds and oranges and fresh yellows – it’s always fun to work with bold colours
- The table styling in the Cloister (such a wow moment to walk in there); fruits, earthy greens and burgundies with burnt oranges, and lots of gorgeous candlelight to accentuate the wow factor of the venue
- Not one but two incredible outfits from Maria – that evening outfit!
- The millefoglie cake bursting with fresh fruits – what better choice for a garden reception?
- Neil himself getting on the guitar for the party late in the evening!
Working with couples to plan weddings like this one is always a joy, especially when we get to inject their personalities and cultures into the design of the day and create a celebration that leaves their loved ones with memories to last a lifetime!
