Romantic Weekend Wedding at Avington Park
Ahh, gorgeous Avington Park – in my opinion, one of the best wedding venues for a weekend buyout in the vicinity of London. A&W’s celebrations are having their moment here on the blog today, and you’re going to want to stick around if you love dreamy garden ceremony florals, the coolest way to enter a drinks reception (maybe ever) and a good old English pub lunch. This is A&W’s romantic weekend wedding at Avington Park…and did I mention there’s a dessert station?
The perfect weekend wedding at Avington Park
Avington estate is not only beautiful, it’s also really well situated just an hour from London and 10 minutes from historic Winchester. It’s great for a multiday buyout because you can exclusively hire the whole place for the whole weekend, making use of its stunning spaces, plentiful accommodation, and lovely bonuses including a church, a pub and of course the unforgettable parklands. There’s so much to love at Avington, and I can almost guarantee you’ll be head over heels for your wedding photos taken in the grounds.

Across the estate there is accommodation for 90, and another 10 at the pub within walking distance. Finding somewhere for the rest of your guests to stay in nearby Hampshire is easy, with lots of lovely local hotels easily accessible. When it comes to choices for spaces to host your wedding reception, you’re not in short supply. One of my favourite options is the Orangery, which A&W made great use of on their wedding day.

A&W’s pre- and post-wedding events
It’s probably not an understatement to say that when a weekend begins with tacos and margs, it’s about to be a contender for The Best Ever. That’s exactly what A&W did on the Friday night, welcoming their guests and setting the tone for the rest of the weekend. If you’re planning a full weekend wedding in a venue like Avington Park, I highly recommend hosting a welcome event – there’s no better excuse to get the fun started sooner!
Saturday was their wedding day (skip to the next section if you’re dying for the details) and on Sunday we made the most of Avington’s very own Great British pub. A classic Sunday lunch was served for a select group of family and the wedding party, a gorgeous way to round off the weekend and really capitalise on Avington’s range of available areas for your celebrations.

A&W’s weekend wedding at Avington Park
Almost every Ella Hartig wedding has one thing in common: epic feature florals that transform a space and really pull their weight insofar as delivering on the vibe. A&W’s weekend wedding at Avington was no different, with The Way to Bloom creating the most incredible flowers. The brief was whimsical woodland including modern mossy details, but elevated to be in keeping with the elegant style of the venue. Let’s start by taking a moment for the ceremony tree…

A&W’s ceremony took place in Avington’s rose garden, the aisle lined by an abundant meadow featuring reaching delphiniums in the most gorgeous lilac, pearly pink hydrangeas and, of course, pristine garden roses. The aisle flowed towards the towering tree, which was dressed with a dreamy floral wrap, and guests watched the exchange of vows from stylish House of Furn chairs complete with sage velvet seat pads.

What happened next is like something from a fairytale, and surely everyone’s favourite feature of Avington Park…the boat ride. After their ceremony A&W made their way to their waiting boat on the River Itchen, swept away through the parklands to arrive at their drinks reception in undeniable style. One confetti throw, a garden soiree and the most exquisite photos later, it was time to enter Avington’s orangery where the fanciful florals and exciting design details continued.

Nests of mossy-based blooms lined the tabletops, pretty pinks and dusky lilacs picked out in the tones of the candles and individual menu cards. Wedding dining experiences in Avington’s orangery always have a light and airy ethereal quality to them, and the atmosphere inside for A&W was sweet, summery and full of love – exactly as it should be.

One of the stars of the show (apart from A&W, of course) was their playful dessert table – tiny tiramisus, little lemon meringues and the cutest of cake pops were gathered on various wood-textured vessels, the table surrounded by a meadow of those magical flowers. It evoked a classy woodland fairy’s tea party, and definitely didn’t let us down when it came to delighting guests.

You don’t need me to tell you that A&W’s weekend wedding at Avington ended with an incredible party in the Library (fuelled, in part, by the amazing cocktails including the Wespresso Martini…), and if you’re already bursting with excitement about planning a wedding at this venue then you know what to do next!
