The Best London Hotels to Get Married In

As far as city weddings go, London must surely host some of the best. Among its 2000+ wedding venues are some of the world’s most iconic hotels, and if you (like me) appreciate understated luxury, fine food and wine and exceptional service, you might want to choose one of them for your wedding. This is my list of the 5 best London hotels to get married in, complete with the need-to-know details at a glance and an insight into why they’re each so special.

The 5 best London hotels to get married in

The Savoy

Need to know:

Capacity at The Savoy ranges from 20-300 depending on which room you’d like to use. We planned a wonderful wedding in the grand Lancaster Ballroom (link), the biggest of the spaces, but you can also choose The River Room with views of the Thames if you’re inviting less than 120.

Why you’ll love it:

Aside from the fact that The Savoy is a total icon of London and has been since the 1800s, you can expect 5 star service, gorgeous river views and contemporary yet classical spaces. You can even arrive at your wedding by boat if you’re going all-in on the luxury vibe. Where The Ritz gives you Parisian glamour, The Savoy is a grand show-stopper of a different kind. It also serves hands down the best beef wellington I’ve ever had the pleasure of enjoying!

Planning a wedding there last year was very special. Not only were the couple divine, trusting me wholeheartedly, but my own Grandmother had worked at The Savoy in her youth and lived onsite so it felt like a full circle moment for me to be working at this special place too. If we get to work together you’ll learn that I love little, connected and heartfelt moment like this.

The NoMad

Need to know:

The NoMad can hold up to 200 guests for a sit-down dinner in the ballroom, or up to 80 can be hosted in the restaurant. They also have an outdoor courtyard space for smaller, al fresco celebrations. (Need to check the numbers as they’ve changed some bits)

Why you’ll love it:

Ah, the NoMad is just so cool, isn’t it? The dining room has a gorgeous moody, cosy atmosphere, and there’s an amazing staircase that leads to nowhere but makes for epic photos! The dining room space is newly available to hire and reminds me of Raffles Singapore with all its plants and lighting.

Situated in Covent Garden in the former Bow Street Magistrates’ Court, it’s super trendy and delivers on urban charm and a great location. It’s luxury in a warm, friendly way, so if you’re looking for an exceptional experience without the top hats and tails, this is a great bet.

Mandarin Oriental

Need to know:

The Mandarin Oriental can accommodate a range of guest numbers, from as little as 30 to as many as 350 in the ballroom with Hyde Park views. It also has an Orangery for up to 150 guests.(Does it? Is that loggia) To discover my favourite Orangery venues around London, click here (link to blog).

Why you’ll love it:

The location is one of the best features of the Mandarin Oriental – it’s on the edge of Hyde Park and feels like a little oasis away from the hustle of the city. The decor is opulent, the food is a culinary experience, and the service is some of the best I have ever received as a wedding planner. During a wedding I planned there in 2022 we watched a parade troop go by from the terrace, an experience you wouldn’t get in many other London hotels.

The Ritz

*The Ritz is currently closed for renovations, but once reopened in a couple of years time it will regain its place as one of our firm favourites!

Need to know:

Why you’ll love it:

It’s glamour on an historic scale – think Grade 2 listed with Louis XVI style interiors, but positioned snug up against Green Park for easy access from around the city. You’ll find Michelin star level dining and world class hospitality here, and it’s possible to get an exclusive hire of the whole hotel for total privacy.

I personally feel fondly towards The Ritz because it’s where I started my hospitality career; I worked there for years, and so it always feels like going home and working with family. My intimate knowledge of the hotel means I can help you plan your wedding down to the finest detail, and you’re in safe and experienced hands. I can’t wait to see the William Kent House once the renovations are finished – it was always such a wonderful space, and it’s going to even better soon!

Cafe Royal

Need to know:

The Pompadour Ballroom, as well as being beautifully named, can hold up to 110 for a seated ceremony or 230 for a standing reception. The Cafe Royal Suite can host up to 40.

Why you’ll love it:

It’s right in the heart of London, which is one of my absolute favourite things about Cafe Royal. The view from the terrace off the ballroom is one of my favorite views in all of London; watching the world go by, admiring the architecture of the surrounding buildings, and enjoying the way the sky changes colour as the sun sets, cocktail in hand. It’s easy to see why it was a favourite spot of Princess Diana – timeless sophistication, both.

There is a lovely combination of traditional and contemporary event spaces, so whether you’re looking for iconic, historic London elegance or something unique, you can find it here.

A special mention has to go to the Vesper Bar at the Dorchester – we recently discovered that they host events in there, and we think it would make for a very cool after-party location! Its vibe is that of a byegone era, with fab cocktails and cosy snugs for late night chats. Just add an epic DJ and this is sure to be a memorable night.
