Heckfield Place Wedding: Classic Cosy Romance

Hampshire’s Heckfield Place paints an imposing, almost regal self portrait on the approach, but any expectations of ostentation or stuffiness quickly dissolve the second you set foot in this restored Georgian family home. There is an atmosphere of humbleness on the working farm estate, but with total class – it’s the chicest farmhouse you’ll find anywhere within an hour of London, describing itself as ‘tamed but gently wild’. C&E’s Heckfield Place wedding was an absolutely gorgeous fiesta that danced through a full weekend in this beautiful venue, so let’s take the tour together as I reminisce on their celebrations.

Heckfield Place Highlights

  • Hiring Heckfield Place in its entirety for your wedding weekend allows you and your guests to get maximum enjoyment from the estate and all it has to offer. Each of its event spaces offers something unique, from the intimate dining room that feels like home away from home to the beautiful glasshouse in the walled garden. Every wedding here is special, with the menus created bespoke each time – no copy and pasting, just a meticulously curated experience.

  • This attention to detail is made possible in part by their organic home farm and biodynamic marker garden, along with their very own orchard and dairy – so much of what you’ll eat across your wedding weekend comes right from the soil and land of Heckfield estate itself. Every mouthful enjoyed by C&E and their guests was a little delight, and included the most perfect pasta dish (exquisitely al dente for all 120 guests!)  lobster rolls, homechurned ice-cream  and hands down one for the best fresh raspberry cakes we’ve ever tried!

  • If you hire Heckfield Place on an exclusive use basis, you and your guests will be able to use all of its 45 beautiful bedrooms – cosy, well decorated and exuding creativity and down to earth style, each is decorated differently and some come with incredible views across the estate. The spa is just another one of the wonderful features at this venue, and you’ll be able to enjoy its serenity and unplug from your devices during your wedding weekend just like C&E and their guests.

‘Say no more! Let’s plan a wedding at Heckfield Place.’

C&E’s Heckfield Place Wedding

C&E’s Heckfield Place wedding took place across three epic days, culminating in the wedding on the final day. If you’re planning your own multi day wedding, you’ll want to take a look at my list of the best UK wedding venues for weekend buyouts (link to blog when live).

Day 1

C&E’s celebrations were bookended by ceremonies, because day 1 saw them have their intimate legal ceremony. They and their parents were the only ones present, starting the wedding weekend off in a special and meaningful way. After the vows they celebrated with drinks in the walled garden with a select few of their closest friends and family, before enjoying a dinner in Heckfield’s dining room. The dining room feels just like yours at home, only better – it has one lovely long table and antique furnishings, and it’s truly an experience and a treat to eat in here.

Day 2

Day 2 of the celebrations saw us dialing up the atmosphere and the guest numbers, with all C&E’s friends and family arriving to be greeted by tea and cake on check in. Their welcome event that evening took place in Hearth, part of Heckfield’s Old Stables. It’s an absolutely perfect balance of cosy chic style, with exposed brick and old beams, lovingly converted in a way that allows its personality to shine. In this homely space, C&E and their guests hosted their ‘hello’ with a roaming band and moving speeches, those lobster rolls I mentioned earlier finished off with home made ice cream in bespoke tubs adding a touch of personal style.

But wait, it gets better…at the end of the night everyone moved to Heckfield’s private cinema to enjoy a screening of their favourite film (Notting Hill!) – how special is that?

Day 3

The wedding itself took place on an ideal clear blue sky day, the ceremony happening in the gardens as was only right when the weather delivered us such perfection! Abundant creamy white florals led the way to the ceremony, seemingly growing from the ground around the chairs and framing C&E in two gorgeous urns as they made their promises once again in front of their loved ones. Throughout the whole weekend the flowers were a big feature, bringing a sense of consistency and familiarity across events while also utterly wow’ing every time. Liberty Lane meticulously designed a weekend of florals that perfectly resembled C&E. It might sound strange but it was a ceremony set up that looked and felt so much like C&E!

An epic marquee party followed, with the band performing in between courses so the celebrations rolled through the entire night – there wasn’t a moment without someone on a chair waving a napkin! Great entertainment was hugely important for C&E, and they and their guests matched the energy of the musicians 100%.

There aren’t many more fabulous ways to celebrate the start of your forever than dancing the night away in one of Hampshire’s most impressive venues, wouldn’t you agree?
